Fahrenheit 9/11

I just watched the movie and at some scenes I had to close my eyes… a bit disgusting at times. It is a good film though. Laughing about that dumb Bush and for good reasons. It is nice to be able to recognize parts of New York and it is an even better feeling that I actually can (recognize parts of New York). :-p

Beliefs

Yesterday I (finally) finished Good Omens… and the book left me impressed. The moral of the story was that there will always be good and evil and there will always be a balance between the two. Good cannot exist without bad and bad cannot exist without good.

A few years ago I purchased an ebook by Scott Adams, ‘God’s Debris’. It was my first and for now last ebook. The reason I bought this book was because I wanted to try the ebook concept and see it is really useful, and I like books from Scott Adams. The first thing I did was try and see if I could hack the ebook format, and get the text in an editable form and this was actually pretty easy. With the text I made a nice little book, and this paper version I used to read the story.

But this post is not about the ebook format, it is about the contents. A content that is very similar to the Good Omens book. At least in my head. The style of writing of both authors is very different, and both stories don’t even resemble, but still I sense there is a connection. It is a strange sensation that the discovery of some kind of relation between these books makes me feel somehow special.

Weird…

Sarah Bettens

I just returned from a concert by Sarah Bettens, some ex k’s choice member. The opening show was disappointing and the main act had only two songs I recognized, but that were no real hits. The audience was 80% female which was a potentially good thing, but of this 80% almost 90% were lesbians, and that made it loose its charm.

Still, for a Monday night that would otherwise would have been boring it was nice to plan a trip to 013 in Tilburg, especially for a performance of someone I had never heard from before.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

It just cannot be true, and if it is really true, is it legal? And if it’s not legal, does that really matter? Well, here it is: Douglas Adams – Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – Audio Book. The book of books read by the author himself.

Update: Hmm, the audio book was only available a short short while, and is already part of history. For the fans I still have a copy. Send me an email if you are interested.

Land of Dreams

While searching for a document in one of my unmarked CD’s with backups I encountered to following.

Copenhagen Interpretation:

Every time a quantum event occurs, a new universe branches off to accommodate the change. A new universe is born each and every time something as insubstantial as a photon is born, or the spin-state of an electron changes…

There is a infinity of universes. Every alternate history ever imagined, ever fantasy ever dreamed of, every universe conceived. All have concrete reality… somewhere.

Reality requires no more than belief to give it substance.

This is the introduction to the freeware game ‘Land of Dreams’. A very nice game and all for free. The theory even seems to be based on something. Image if it’s true, then it must be really bad to live in one of those universes that represents a game that I have lost, because I have lots a lot of games.

The Leidse half (after)

Pffff!!! 21 Kilometers is really a long distance, but I managed in a nice 1 hour, 50 minutes and 30 seconds. Now to get some rest :-)

According to a mailing of the organization my time was even better: 1:49:01 !

The Leidse half (before)

Only a few more hours and that it is time…. a little past 12 o clock a shot will be heard am I will start my first marathon. The weather is good, not to sunny. My preparations were good as I’ve been relaxing, sporting and focusing my mind.

The last few days I have consumed huge amounts of sugar in the form of cola, sinas, 7up and cassis. Almost every day I ate pasta or some rice product. My vitamin C consumption is very high.

I am very positive about this race. If this is for just cause we will know in a few hours.

Buyh!

It is great to spend money.. en even better if the product you are buying is guaranteed to relaxation and happiness. Although some people cannot understand it I just bought a new CD by Gary D with some nice German trance music. It is his 26th CD already.

The actual purpose of my shopping spree was trying to find a little ducky for the bath that I needed for a birthday, but this I did not find. Still, I have a week left to try and find it.
