Metro station Chodov!I’m home again and I’m pretty tired. According to the Czech people beer can be compared to a kind of liquid bread. If this is really the case then the last week I have drank quite a large amount of bread.

Breakfast in the Czech republic was normally a sandwich with a beer and a shot of liquor. Sometimes breakfast was just some liquor made from berries, mixed with hot water. Afterwards the touristic part of the day started. My guide Zuza showed me various parts of the beautiful Prague. We started out viewing big parts of the city during the day and visiting a lot of bars during the evening. As the week progressed the time we spend in bars drinking and eating also increased quite a lot.

The result was a very nice week. Prague is a great city that I will have to visit again soon :-)

Carnival in Prague!!!Carnival is a party that needs to be celebrated, and it needs to be celebrated good! In Prague they celebrate carnival really good.

I just went to some awesome club, Palaca Acropolis in the Zizkov neighborhood (of course in Prague), and the stage in this club was full of people partying.

They celebrated carnival with close to all musical instruments you can think of, and the result was very nice. It resembled a combination of the Blues Brothers and Vive la Fete, with the only difference that the music was played a lot faster : -p

Crash

Crash!Godverdomme!
Heb ik netjes mijn auto nagelopen, oliepeil gechecked, ruitewisservloeistof gechecked, koelvloeistof gechecked, de tank lekker volgegooid, sneeuwkettingen geregeld, rijdt een of andere debiel in een grote bus de achterkant van mijn auto aan gort!

Daar gaat mijn coole trip naar Praag met de kar. Nu zit ik met een auto die ongeveer 5 cm korter is dan normaal, een totaal aan gort zijnde achterbumper, extreem krakende boxen en een kofferbak die niet meer wil openen. En gratis ook nog een enorme hoeveelheid rompslomp erbij.

Het nieuwe plan is nu om morgen te kijken of ik een vliegticket kan scoren… ben benieuwd..

Prague

Prague!Since a few days I’m home again after a very tiring but very enjoyable snowboard vacation. Tomorrow I head over to Prague, to visit Eliska and Zuza :-)

I had planned to go by train, but the costs are higher then the airplane, and it needs to be arranged weeks in advance. Going by plane is a lot of hassle booking everything last minute, so I think I’ll try my luck and go by car.

I am very curious… after some research I found out Prague is a beautiful historic city and I’ll be visiting the perfect guide that live in the middle of it all. Still I’m going to buy a tourist guide, together with a bottle of berry brandy and a packet of cookies to be well prepared. ;-)

Wengen

I’m home again :-)

And I am truly exhausted after a fantastic vacation. One full week of snowboard classes with board professor Andrea. All the muscles in my body are in pain. I ripped my pants and broke my supposedly unbreakable goggles while falling really hard on the back of my head. I was called a lazy side-slipper by the professor and all the green-team members were feared (in a good way) in the hotel.

Maybe tomorrow I’ll post some additional pictures (if they pass the censorship). Now first to get some sleep.

Wengen, Switzerland

Snowboarding!!!In a moment I’ll be heading towards Limburg (or some place near) for a cozy sleepover and afterwards I’ll be (studying) snowboarden for a week in Wengen in Switzerland. This year we have the biggest IP04 group ever. I think we’ll be a 10-person group :-), ammer, baraba, beast, em, emjee, fuzzy, herman, red devil, skiwi and me, so that promises to be a great adventure.

This year I’m going to be snowboarding the entire week (with classes of course), so for sure I will have to endure pain, extreme cold, plenty of ‘bollost”!, rolling soaking wet in the fresh snow, falling a lot, apre-ski-ing even more, trying to ignore the pain and have extreme fun!

This year I go equipped with some strong caffeine pills and I sneakily brought some toe-warmers I tested a while ago so I can spend at least one day in the snow with warm feet. I hope no-one will notice because fur sure I’ll be the laughing stock of the group if anyone sees me with my toe-warmer.

Inauguratie Bush

Het niveau van Bush's inauguratie speech!Zojuist op de tv… de inauguratie speech van Bush. Vrijheid voor iedereen, overal ter wereld! Een bijzonder goed streven, maar hoe kan je zo’n boodschap brengen als je in je achtertuin (vermoedelijke) terroristen opsluit en martelt zonder enige vorm van rechtspraak.

Vrijheid predikten is naïef als je er zelf niet aan doet.

Een andere Bush uitspraak:
‘Even the unwanted have worth’
Wederom een prachtige uitspraak. Iedereen heeft een waarde, het maakt niet uit hoe of wat die persoon doet. Een zeer strakke quote die aangeeft dat abortus inderdaad niet kan. Maar als je tegelijkertijd veroordeelden straft met de dood is dat wederom naïef.

Laten we hopen dat we nog 4 jaar Bush overleven, en dat hij niet met al te veel machtsvertoon overal ter wereld zijn vrijheid gaat opleggen.

Maar hebben we het in Nederland eigenlijk wel veel beter? Identificatieplicht die opeens noodzakelijk blijkt, cameratoezicht, traject controles, preventief fouilleren, een overheid die zich richt op iets ontastbaars als normen en waarden… Tsja, wie angst zaait zal ongetwijfeld niets goeds oogsten.

Psychologie!Tsja, zo’n opmerking is toch goed voor het ego :-p. Maar toch vind ik het zo ontzettend vreemd dat er zo veel mensen zijn die zich alleen maar concentreren op de zaken die slecht of minder goed met ze gaan. We leven in het rijkste en meest vrije land ter wereld. Iedereen die ik ken heeft een dak boven zijn of haar hoofd, een bankrekening, de mogelijkheid om geld te verdienen op een normale manier, de mogelijkheid om hobby’s te beoefenen, maar nog is het niet genoeg.

Iedereen spaart voor leuke vakanties of grote aanschaffen, niemand maakt zich zorgen over of er morgen nog wel wat te eten is, niemand is bang voor een bom die ieder moment neer zou kunnen vallen, maar het blijft een teleurstelling lijkt het wel.

Maar wat wil je nou zelf? Perfectie? De hemel op aarde? Dat gaat gewoon niet gebeuren. Er zal altijd narigheid, ongeluk, verdriet, pijn en pech zijn. Niemand heeft genoeg middelen om alles te doen wat ie wil en dus moet je keuzes maken. Accepteer gewoon dat het is zoals het is, en probeer er het beste van te maken.

Ik weet niet uit welke film hij komt, maar dit blijft een goeie toepasselijke qoute:
‘Grow up and face the music!’

Samen met deze quote uit een cool trance nummer:

Digital Elph

Pulp Fiction, the action figures!
Jaaaa, mijn digitale elf doet het weer..!

Een paar maanden geleden had ik per ongeluk mijn USB poort afgebroken. Sindsdien werkt ie nog een beetje, maar dus niet met mijn digitale cameraatje. Dat zoog, en ik moest dus op zoek naar alternatieven, en een alternatief heb ik nu… en pcmcia kaartje waarin ik mijn compactflash kaartje kan steken :-)

Eindelijk kan ik mijn vrije tijd nog nuttelozer besteden met fotograferen, editen en manipuleren!
