Exactly 10 years ago it all started with my first blog post. In 10 years a lot has happened and the most surprising was that each new highlight was more impressive that its predecessor.
What’s next? Will this trend of increasingly big highlights continue or not? What ever happens I’m happy to wait and see.
After the first set of colored coins we were quickly introduced to a new phenomenon. Semi fake colored coins. Actually quite logical because painting coins is cheap and the royal Dutch mint charges a lot for a painted coin. In addition the number of painted coins is very low and they are sold out very fast.
This time the KNM is warning us about ‘fake’ coins with the double heads (former queen and current king). Actually the coins are not fake, they are just normal/legal coins, which everyone is allowed to paint. It seems that to only way to distinguish a fake from a real painted coin is by looking at the packaging.
Our first cache is finally live! Together with the Ammers we worked hard. Thought of routes, riddles, placing rubber duckies at child-friendly places, making pictures, writing nice descriptions, recording coordinates, asking permission. All for a very nice box filled to the rim with rubber duckies.
The result is a fantastic walk/search through a nice green part of the randstad. Searching brightly colored duckies and in the end finding a huge box filled with rubber ducks.
Sun, swimming pool and sunblock.
A nice beer for dad and a nice old Pinkpop hat for Alex. Playing with a little ball and relaxing. Life’s good.
We are together again!
After a year of being separated weeks and weeks at a time finally the tide has changed. Our family is once again united and I can once again strive to be the best father I can be and teach my son some Dutch.
Alex was very happy to see his father again, but I was maybe even happier because I knew we would be together for a much longer time. To celebrate we went to see some big crocodiles in the Gran Canaria Crocodile park.
A sort message from Alex’ school will have some big effects. The message was
Dear parents,
Starting next monday Alex is expected to attend school without a diaper.
Uf! Alex is growing up so fast! We have already started training Alex to use his potty, but it is a slow process. Quite logical because with a diaper you can just let everything flow and still remain dry. Still, the good times are over, and Alex will need to adjust. With a big amount of underwear and pants we will start with this new phase on Monday.
