Thanks in advance for your support!<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"requirements\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Requirements<\/h3>\n<p>DatePad has been tested and will run on the following Windows versions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Windows 95<\/li>\n<li>Windows 98<\/li>\n<li>Windows 2000<\/li>\n<li>Windows XP<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\nDatePad may also work on other versions of the Windows operating system but this is not guaranteed. DatePad will <strong>NOT<\/strong> work on the 64 bit version of Windows Vista.<br \/>\nDuring the installation of DatePad some addition software is also installed. These include MSXML, used for the internal storage of DatePad documents, a calendar control and a rich text control. The effects of these parts of the program on your computer should be zero, but this is not guaranteed.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"install\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Installation<\/h3>\n<p>After downloading the DatePad installer simply run the program and follow the instructions on your screen. If you downloaded the DatePad zipfile you need to unzip the package and then run the setup program. Then follow the instructions on your screen.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"distribution\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Distribution<\/h3>\n<p>The author only allows distribution of DatePad on any media after permission. Send an email to <a href=\"mailto:adrieberg@gmail.com?subject=Distribution of DatePad 2.4\">adrieberg@gmail.com<\/a> to ask for permission. Include in the email the distribution type (Magazine, Shareware CD, etc.) and a description of the references made to DatePad (article, product comparison, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"whatsnew\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>What&#8217;s new?<\/h3>\n<p>In version 2.4 there are some bugfixes and some new options. The new options include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Formatting, a new buttonbar is added, so you can now add style, color and small pictures to your notes.<\/li>\n<li>F6, In the settings screen it is possible to define a default text. This text will be inserted whenever you press the F6 key. A default text can contain any text including the following labels: &#8216;<code>&lt;systemdate&gt;<\/code>&#8216;, &#8216;<code>&lt;systemday&gt;<\/code>&#8216;, &#8216;<code>&lt;systemtime&gt;<\/code>&#8216;, &#8216;<code>&lt;entrydate&gt;<\/code>&#8216;, &#8216;<code>&lt;entryday&gt;<\/code>&#8216;. Before inserting the default text in the current entry the values of these labels will be replaced by the corresponding date or time.<\/li>\n<li>Added the languages <a href=\"#credits\">French<\/a> and <a href=\"#credits\">Italian<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Added quick links in the help menu to start the calculator or character map<\/li>\n<li>Using &#8216;Import Text From File&#8230;&#8217; you can now also import an <abbr title=\"Rich Text Format\">RTF<\/abbr> document<\/li>\n<li>Added an option to make a <a href=\"#support\">donation<\/a>. Thank you very much!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\n<center><\/p>\n<hr size=\"5\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p><a name=\"mainscreen\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>DatePad screen<\/h2>\n<p>The main screen is divided into three parts. By default there is a treeview on the left side of the screen and an area to enter text on the larger right part of the screen. Texts you type are related to the date selected in the treeview. This date is also displayed in the statusbar. Using the <b>F1<\/b> and <b>F2<\/b> keys it is easy to navigate to earlier (<b>F1<\/b>) or later (<b>F2<\/b>) dates.<br \/>\n<a name=\"editingarea\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Editing area<\/h3>\n<p>This part of the screen is where you type your text. Text typed here are related to the date currently selected. You can access a few functions by right clicking in this area. The right click options are:<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Remove formatting<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Removes all formatting like color, font types, alignment, style and reverts all text to the default formatting as specified in the editing settings.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Insert Text<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Inserts a variable. The available variables are:<\/p>\n<li><code>System Day<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>System Date<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>System Time<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>Entry Day<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>Entry Date<\/code><\/li>\n<li><code>Entry Time<\/code><\/li>\n<p>\n<code>System Day<\/code> display the system day name, like Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, etc. <code>System Date<\/code> displays the entire system date like 29 July 1975, 1 April 2008, etc. and <code>System Time<\/code> displays the current time like 12:00, 21:15, 08:15, etc.<br \/>\n<code>Entry Day<\/code>, <code>Entry Day<\/code> and <code>Entry Time<\/code> add similar text to the editing screen, but based on the entry time and not based on your system time.<br \/>\nThe shortcut key to quickly type the current date is <b>Ctrl-J<\/b>. It shows years, months, days and times, and provides a simple way to navigate to the various parts of your document. Simply click in the treeview on an entry to navigate to the text belonging to this entry.<br \/>\nRight clicking on an entry in the treeview shows the following options:<\/p>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Previous<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Navigate to the previous entry in the currently active DatePad document. The shortcut key for this option is <b>F1<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Next<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Navigate to the next entry in the currently active DatePad document. Select a date in the calendar to add an entry for this date in your currently active DatePad document. The shortcut key for this option is <b>Ctrl-D<\/b>. To cancel the calendar screen press <b>Esc<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Clock...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Show the clock. Select a time to add an entry for this time in the currently active DatePad document. The shortcut key for this option is <b>Ctrl-T<\/b>. To cancel the clock screen press <b>Esc<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Date\/Time Calculator...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Shows a simple date calculator. This is an easy way to <a href=\"#calculate\">calculate<\/a> a new day or time based on the selected or current date or time. You can add or subtract months, weeks, days, hours and minutes. The result will be a new entry in your DatePad document. The shortcut key for this option is <b>Ctrl-L<\/b>. To cancel the calculator screen press <b>Esc<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Set Notification...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Activates or modifies a <a href=\"#notification\">notification<\/a> for the selected date. Notifications only work on future dates.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Remove Notification<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Removes an existing notification from a date.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Delete Selected Entry...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Deletes the currently selected item in the treeview including all items nested inside the selected item. Be careful with this option because it cannot be undone. Deleting a year entry will also delete all months, days and times inside. The shortcut key for this option is <b>Delete<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Delete Empty Entries...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">This option scans your entire document and deletes all entries that do not have and sub-entries and which do not have any text. No text will be deleted, only entries in the document like times without text or dates without underlying times and without text.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/table>\n<p><a name=\"menubar\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Menu bar<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><code>File<\/code><br \/>\n<table border=\"0\">\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>New<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Starts a new document. The default entry will be an entry for the current day. If the displayed date is incorrect check the date you computer is set to. A warning will appear when a document is closed which contains unsaved changes. The shortcut key for this option is <b>Ctrl-Q<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Save<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Saves the current active DatePad document. Files are by default saved in the DatePad format (*.dp2). The shortcut key for this option is <b>Ctrl-S<\/b>.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Save As...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Saves the current active DatePad document using a different name, or using a different file format. Documents can be saved as text, rich text, html or xml. Rich text is a file format that can be read by many other programs, and it is the perfect file format if you wish to enhance your document for printing or if you wish to edit your document in Microsoft Word.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Save Page As...<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Saves only the current page of the current active DatePad document.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\"><code>Set As Default<\/code><\/td>\n<td valign=\"top\" align=\"left\">Sets the current active DatePad document to be the default. This includes the menubar, the settings screen and the messages DatePad presents. Some language related items are not modified, like the texts in standard buttons and the month and day names. Using the calculate option you can add or subtract months, days, hours or minutes. You can calculate the difference with other days, and you can calculate the difference with other times. After calculating you can close the screen with the &#8216;OK&#8217; button or the &#8216;Cancel&#8217; button. The screen can also be closed by pressing the <strong>Esc<\/strong> key. If the checkbox in the left bottom of the screen (&#8216;Make a new entry&#8217;) is checked pressing the &#8216;OK&#8217; button will result in a new page in your DatePad document.<br \/>\n<a name=\"addsubtract\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Add or subtract<\/h3>\n<p>In this screen you can select if you want to add or subtract by selecting the &#8216;<strong>+<\/strong>&#8216; or &#8216;<strong>&#8211;<\/strong>&#8216; sign. After you can select an amount and then select the type this amount signifies. It is possible to add or subtract months, weeks, days, hours or minutes.<br \/>\n<a name=\"compdates\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Compare dates<\/h3>\n<p>Compare dates compares the selected date as displayed in the top of the screen to any other date you select in the calendar. The screen will show you the difference in days, months and years if applicable. You could use this function to for example calculate the amount of days until your birthday by selecting your next birthday in the calendar in the right of the screen.<br \/>\n<a name=\"comptimes\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Compare times<\/h3>\n<p>Compare times compares the selected time as displayed in the top of the screen to and other time you select in the clock. The screen will show you the difference in hours and minutes. This can happen when other programs are installed which change some of the files used by DatePad.
